About Allison
With over 35 years of dedicated experience, my journey in the caring profession began at the age of 14 when I volunteered in nursing homes, sparking my enduring passion for helping others.
Embarking on nurse training in 1989, I gained comprehensive expertise across various medical fields, including mental health.
As an NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Registered General Nurse, my professional trajectory spans two decades, focusing extensively on children, young people, and families across diverse settings. My roles include a Specialist Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor for School Age Children) and a Certified CBT therapist, supplemented by additional qualifications such as Mentalisation-Based Treatments with Children, Young People and Families and the Circle of Security Facilitator Certificate in Childhood Attachment.
These qualifications have enabled me to develop my skills further in assessing and delivering a range of clinical interventions using a shared formulation with children and their families.
The courses have enhanced my knowledge and skills as an evidence-based practitioner, thereby ensuring that I apply current research and best practices to the field of mental health, I continue to use my skills and knowledge to improve practice.
This robust background equips me to address a spectrum of mental health issues, such as anxiety, panic disorders, low mood, trauma, OCD, phobias, and neurodiversity.
My proactive approach has led to impactful changes, from transforming clinics, delivering training, and facilitating the rollout of emotional health materials and educational programs to gaining a national recognition for the successful development and delivery a mental health programme across Hertfordshire schools was another important achievement for me professionally and reflect my commitment to a coordinated response to children’s mental health needs.
On a personal note, I am happily married for over 33 years with two wonderful children and a beloved family dog named Daisy. I find immense joy and relaxation in baking, cooking and maintaining an active lifestyle through gym activities and outdoor walks with Daisy, all of which I deeply enjoy and find immensely fulfilling.
